Den tunesiske arkitekt og kunstner Majdi Faleh blev inviteret i Cph Air-residency af det københavnske kunst- og designværksted Diffus og arbejdede på FABRIKKEN i januar og februar 2013.
Majdi Faleh arbejder i et tværdisciplinært felt, hvor han bl.a. undersøger interaktionen mellem traditionel islamisk kunst og nyere islamisk arkitektur. Den 9. januar fortalte han om sin praksis ved en artist talk på FABRIKKEN.
About Majdi Faleh's Work
Majdi Faleh is driven by the desire to explore the traditional Islamic culture in relation with new interactive medias and new technologies. His ambition is to follow uncharted ways to get traditional crafts and sensual materials to be combined with digital tools and cutting edge technologies with the hope to create cross disciplinary art works rooted simultaneously into tradition and modernity.
Majdi Faleh has been working in the field of Islamic architecture and emerging technologies. He has been involved at Ball State University in the research of exploring Islamic art complex patterns. As a new media artist and architect, Majdi Falehs work has been shown in different cultural venues, universities, art galleries, in the United States and Tunisia. One of his works was selected as one of the top 10 creative projects by the Pecha Kucha international event, which took place in the city of Detroit in 2012. He is also a Fulbright scholar from Ball State University in the US, and a Phd candidate at the University of Sydney, design Lab, where he will be pursuing his innovative and creative doctoral study on “Islamic design and emerging technologies".
