RESIDENCY
Camilla Edström Ödemark (Åland), FAIR Resident 2021
for international artists and curators
An essential part of FABRIKKEN is to foster inspiration and exchange opportunities for artists. We achieve this by offering residencies to international artists and curators, contributing to the creation of a thriving and stimulating art environment.
Artist in Residence at FABRIKKEN in Copenhagen, Denmark
Anna Niskanen, FIDA Resident 2021
The foundation FABRIKKEN for Kunst og Design provides studios for approximately 70 Copenhagen-based visual artists and designers. In addition to studios, FABRIKKEN contains a central production space as well as basic facilities for working with wood, metal, and ceramics.
As a creative space with a small staff of art professionals and a variety of professional artists working under one roof, we strive to help internationalize the Danish art scene by offering good conditions for both research and networking across and borders.
FABRIKKENs International Residency programmes are aimed at furthering artistic practices and careers. Residencies with FABRIKKEN are between one and three months and are all fully funded through generous partnerships with other foundations and institutions.
Close to 200 international artists have visited FABRIKKEN since 2007.

Decreasing the distance between the Danish and the international art scenes
As an artist in residence at FABRIKKEN, you’re provided with a private studio and shared accommodation throughout the stay. The programmes also provide travel grants as well as a stipend. In most of the programmes, the resident is matched with a mentor or a peer from the Danish art scene and receives curatorial support. The residency typically concludes with a public event.
FABRIKKEN encourages all residents to travel as green as possible and is happy to assist with travel inspiration that includes transport other than airfare.
